Give your audience a song they already know, with words they'll never forget. I write custom parody lyrics and arrangements for quartets, choruses, and ensembles, built around your group, your crowd, and your occasion.
Start with just the lyrics, or let me handle everything from the first line to the last chord.
Fresh words for a song your group already sings, written to fit the existing arrangement syllable for syllable, so the only new thing to learn is the punch lines.
No chart yet? I'll arrange the parody for your voicing (TTBB, SSAA, or SATB) and fit it to your singers' ranges and experience. Hear my arrangements.
Add a full set of part-by-part learning tracks, recorded by the same person who wrote the parody, so every singer can learn it fast, on their own schedule.
My parodies in performance.
I have spent over 50 years in the BHS as a quartet and chorus guy, judge and parody and comedy writer. I judged the Rocky Mountain District contest last weekend and was lucky enough to be there to enjoy a parody written by Scott Anderson to Bright Was the Night. Based upon the writing, structure and effective comedy here, it is clear that Scott has the skills and creativity to be very successful in this arena, and I would suggest if you are looking for help in doing some parody work, give Scott a shout!
Scott is one of those rare individuals who not only has his finger on the pulse of trends in the style, but he also has the wordsmithing ability to really make a parody topical AND funny!
Who's the audience, what's the occasion, and how long should it run? Send the names, inside jokes, and stories that will get the room laughing, plus the song you have in mind. No tune picked yet? I'll suggest a few that fit.
I'll send a lyric draft for your feedback, and we'll tweak it together until every line lands.
You'll receive the final lyrics, plus sheet music and learning tracks if you ordered them, ready for your next rehearsal.
Pricing depends on the length of the song and whether you need lyrics only, a full arrangement, or learning tracks too. Tell me about your project and I'll send a quote.
A note on copyright: a parody of a copyrighted song may need the publisher's permission before it's performed publicly, recorded, or shared online. Ask me if you're not sure where your song stands.
Tell me about your group, your occasion, and your deadline. I'll get back to you promptly with ideas and a quote.
